Lot Number 311

A brass-cased ships bulkhead clock, opening brass bezel with heavy bevelled glass over a painted 8'' dial signed Boston Sea Sprite, Lowestoft, 11'' (d) overall. Boston Sea Sprite was a deep sea trawler launched in July 1972, no. LT147, and worked from Lowestoft until the mid-1980's when she was sold to Iceland (the country!) and renamed. After several subsequent transfers, she was scrapped in 2006. It is likely the clock came from the ship before her sale to Iceland. Now mounted on a wooden plinth, the clock may have been screwed directly to a bulkhead in an operations room or captain's quarters: the location is sometimes recorded on the back of the drum (hidden by the wooden plinth in this case) and typically these clocks house good quality movements by a reputable maker. dial 8''. [W] Condition Report: Clock winds and is currently ticking (this does not constitute a guarantee)
